Padmanabhan palace

Image
A beautiful palace anyone in Nagercoil must visit, you won't regret the 2hrs inside the palace. There are guides sitting in every corner explaining the purpose of the room or object. You will be amazed by the architecture and wood work. Palace is well maintained. There is no parking space on holidays and nearby food is not so good. From Nagercoil it would be like 15kms (40 mins max)

Mukkadal dam

Image
Mukkadal dam is the drinking water source for Nagercoil district. It is located close to thittuvillai, like 15kms away from town. Three sides of dam is covered by mountains and the front side was wall built by king balarama varma. The place is peaceful and scenic. Also the cloudy climate played major role on our trip and we enjoyed a lot. Also there are kids park to play and get along. People from nearby locations bring food/lunch to this place and have them. If you are in Nagercoil and weather is sweet, visit this place for sure.

Thiruparappu Falls

Image
Thiruparappu waterfall is marvelous place, close to Nagercoil. The place has got water flow for seven months a year and less crowded atleast the time we visit. Water is so clean and bath for an hour would just release all the stress we got. The place has also got boating, kids play area for entertainment. Thiruparappu Mahadevar temple is scenic Shiva temple to worship. The place has got changing rooms and restrooms but are not maintained good. Car parking is also available. I also seen some people bringing dishes and utensils to cook and eat in the nearby place. This is definitely a memorable experience. From Nagercoil you need to travel around 40kms (25miles) to reach the place and on the way there are many scenic places. Kulasekharam is the nearest town where you can see good restaurants.

Vattakottai Fort

Image
Vattakottai fort was a beautiful site seeing place on the sea side. Inside fort looks neat and there were few couples making there photoshoot. The place was quiet peaceful and enjoyable unless a sunny day. Outside the fort you can visit the beach but there was no proper way, you need to follow the single track. It is an estuary, so after playing in beach salt water we took bath in the river water streaming into the sea. The place has also got parking space. From Nagercoil you have to travel around 20kms (12.5 miles) and around 7kms (4.5 miles) from Kanyakumari beach

Muttom beach

Image
Muttom beach was a splendid experience. We saw Sunset here and was mesmerizing. There are some cave like rocks were you will get some shades. The intensity of tides is also normal, at least on the day we have visited. Beach was also maintained without waste dumping.  The place got a Light house built by the British and was open for visitors. Beach is 16kms (~10 miles) from Nagercoil town. Place is little remote, you will not be able to find good restaurants or chitchat nearby. If you are planning for Mandaikadu temple also include muttom beach in your watchlist. The place doesn't seem like secure to stay after light.
